Ways of Promoting Your Website

Earlier we mentioned about how to take your business online from the start to finish. Which we’ve had some great feedback on, and it’s made it easier for new customers to understand the full process of starting a website.

Now you’re live on the World Wide Web, what do you do next?

The Internet is an ocean, you can do so much stuff with your website, all depends on your goals, and what you’re looking to get out of your website.

I’m going to outline few basic tasks and options one can do to promote your website online and offline. Just like anything, if you don’t let people know about it, no one will come.

Social Media & Networking

Register with social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and couple of others, create your company profile, and start to interact with others online within your own niche. Now days there are so many Social Networking profiles, you don’t need to register with all of them, chose a few, that you feel comfortable with.

Once you have registered your profiles, I would also recommend setting the links of those profiles on your main website.

Few of our social networking profiles that we use regularly:

Twitter: http://twitter.com/alrayesweb

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alrayeswebsolutions

You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/user/alrayesweb

BT Tradespace: http://alrayeswebsolutions.bttradespace.com/

After registering with social networking accounts, it’s extremely important you stay active on them, you should set aside at least 5-10 minutes a day or every other day for you to interact on these sites.

Local Listing

Many website owners launch a website to target sales and build awareness around the world, but forget to tap into their local web market.  Once you have launched your website, you should submit your website to local listings, such as Google Places, Yahoo Local, and on Bing, or if your listing is already present, you should claim it before someone else does.

Why should you register with local search results?

  1. You will be targeting more specific key words that users search for: eg: “Beauty Shop in Manchester”

  2. Local search results normally tend to rank above other results in search engines

When entering your company details, similar to social networking profile ensure you add your full address, products and services, along with pictures.

You can also add your business listings into local & other business directories, such as www.yell.com.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

This is the perfect way to promote your website online, you can hire an SEO specialist, to work on your site, to optimize it for relevant keywords that are associated with your business and products.

By optimizing your website, your site will show up in search results naturally, and start to build an online brand for your organization. SEO is not a quick overnight solution, you would need to have patience and give your SEO campaign some time.

When choosing an SEO company, you also need to be careful, and ensure it’s the right company for your business and their SEO methods are according to the search engine guide lines, and no Black Hat SEO is used on your site, as this can black list your domain from search engines. Having an impact on your business.

Pay Per Click

Pay per click campaign such as Google Adowds can bring instant results to your website, if it is done correctly, it’s like paying for customers to come to into your shop. If the foundation of your site is done well and the site can convert visitors, this method can prove very prosperous.

You can setup Pay Per Click’s campaigns with major search engines, and also Facebook offers Pay Per Click Campaigns.

Word of Mouth

Best form of adverting is word of mouth, it’s free, and it works. Once you have launched your website, let your friends and family know about your new site, even your existing customers. Ask them to mention it to their networking circles.

Also mention your website everywhere, on you letterheads, compliment slips, business cards, basically where ever you have your company phone number, you should also have your website next to it.

Email Marketing

Many think email marketing is only for large companies or if you have a database of email address. Yes it’s correct, you need to have a database of emails to send the emails to, but you don’t need to compile your own list. There are many marketing companies you can purchase data from. You can purchase a list of email address associated to your niche, and send them all a targeted email.

Blogs

Blogs are a great way to get your voice heard. Many companies use a blog as a platform to give out news about their company, some use it as a way of talking about industry topics, and some just about their own products and services. You can do so much with a blog (which we will cover in other articles). Again same as the social networking profiles, once you have a blog, you would need to keep it up to date, stay active on the blog. It’s best to set aside a time in a day, week or month that you would assign for your blog.

Press Release

Press release can get your website noticed by the media easily, if your press release is constructed well. Once you have submitted your press release it can drive good quality traffic to your website and build your brand awareness. There are many websites you can submit your press release article too. Many businesses submit a press release on monthly bases, quarterly and some even on a yearly basses.

Above are some of the ways we have found promoting a website can bring results and beneficial in building awareness. If you have some ideas or suggestions, please feel free to share your success with us
