Facebook and The US Department Of Labor – Their Unlikely Partnership

With the increasing number of the unemployed in the US, Facebook and the Department of Labor have decided to collaborate together to try to solve this problem as early as possible.

Currently, a job search page on the social network giant has been added, meant to help the unemployed find contact with potential employers.

According to experts, one of the factors that lead to the increase in unemployment is the lack of information – and this initiative between Facebook and the Labor Department is meant to solve that.

With this page, training programs, educational opportunities and job openings will be made available to those who are looking for jobs, thereby increasing their chance to find employment.

And, as part of this program, Facebook has likewise committed itself to drive traffic to the page, by using targeted announcements for users who belong to areas with high unemployment.

This initiative is supported by numerous agencies, such as the National Association of Colleges and Employers, National Association of State Workforce Agencies and the Direct Employers Association.

Currently, this program by the US Labor Department and Facebook is limited to US jobs only.  However, there are clamors to include global jobs as well.  As to whether the said requests will be heeded – only Facebook knows.
